Just getting ready to leave to take a look at this. It’s a 1999 Hyundai Accent with 290k miles, a stick, a clear title, and a new battery. The price is $300.

If I buy it the plan is to ice race it (it’s like LeMons but it’s on a lake and some of the drivers have been drinking). It will be made into the General Park, with a South Korean flag on the roof and repainted orange.

The list of issues, as stated by the seller:

290,000 miles on it

Crack in windshield

Driver window off track

Driver door doesn’t unlock from outside

Passenger door missing lock on outside

Sunroof leaks

Needs new transmission soon

Burns oil

Needs new clutch (cradle? Carriage?)

Needs new brakes

Parking brake light stuck on

Passenger break light out

Stereo wonky(but working)

Interior pretty dirty

Exterior rusty

New clutch August 2014

I’m going to try to get it for $200 if it’s not horribly rusted.

That is amazing. I wish I could give you more than one star for that.

How can you write “brake” twice in a row and misspell it?

For $300 I’d hoon it to death!

Needs new clutch but got a new clutch in Aug ‘14? An old friend had one just like this, same color and all. It had no power steering, definitely threw me off first time I drove it

I like the shape of these, I would love to turbo one or similar. I wish they were in forza or something so I could make it stupid.

Many years ago when I was a student at UW, I found a cheap ‘88 Mazda 323 GTX on craigslist or Autotrader or something, that someone had set up for ice racing and wasn’t technically street legal.

Kinja'd!!!

(It was white, but you get the idea.)

I was a brokeass college kid and price was right, but it would need some unspecified work to get back to being able to register it for use on public roads. I was really tempted by the awd+turbo+hatchback+sleeper combo, but alas, it was too much hassle to get it street legal again.

I’m not sure if you’re actually offended or just messing with me. A beater is not necessarily bad. You drove around in a $300 Pontiac for Christ’s sake!

And I made a profit of $100 on that miserable Pontiac too. So jam it
